BOP harvests from public trees across the city, making sure the fruit gets to people that need and can use it. Registering trees in your neighborhood helps us to make sure we’re able to harvest fruit that would otherwise go unused.
Once a tree is registered, we work to monitor its health, help stewards tend to it, and ensure the tree is harvested. Even if the tree and the tree-owner do not need our help, just knowing that the tree is there helps us in designing and managing Baltimore’s aggregated Orchard. Trees on one property can serve as cross-pollinators for trees on a nearby property.
Please take the time to register any food-bearing trees in the Baltimore Region either by right-clicking on the Falling Fruit map below, or by filling out a short form. Falling Fruit is open for anyone to edit and see, while the form submissions will be seen just by BOP.
