This morning, Anne Fleshman and I met with students from Prof. Natalia Fath’s Environmental Geography class at Towson University. With the help of these students, we are launching our fruit tree inventory program. Under Anne’s guidance, the students will research the natural history of local neighborhoods, speak with homeowners and map the location of their harvestable fruit trees.
This is the first volley in a long-term effort to identify the universe of local, productive fruit trees in the Baltimore area.
This inventory will serve as the backbone of our gleaning efforts.
We are always looking for trees, and we are always looking for volunteers to find and register those trees. Please do register fruit trees you may own or know about, and sign up to help us look.
And to Prof. Fath’s students: many thanks! Here’s to a great semester.
